Katooga PH team and I were delighted to receive an invitation from Provincial Tourism of Camarines Norte. I was really excited for this trip. After, 7 hours of travelling on a first class bus from Manila. Finally, we reached our destination.
We begin our tour, visiting the Mercedes Fish Port. Considering the fact that Mercedes, Camarines Norte is the largest fish bowl in Bicol Region.
Pandawan Fish Port is famous for its Bulungan where you can have a good deal or make tawad with the seafood you want to buy. Surely, you will love the taste of fresh and traditional way of cooking fish, squid or any seafood from their different carinderia or paluto.

After we finished a great breakfast, we begin our Island Hopping by using bangka or boat.
MALASUGUI ISLAND- . It is the first island destination of our group. After an hour of travelling using boat or bangka. We finally reach this captivating island.
They said that it's the smallest but one of the most beautiful Island in Mercedes, Camarines Norte. It is also know as Blue Marlin Island because it looks like the said fish from aerial view when you use a drone.

CARINGO ISLAND- At the tip of the island lies a Falconette Point (Falcon's Nest). A place where you can witness the face of sleeping giant and breath taking view of San Miguel Bay.

What is special about Caringo? It has a white sandy beach , fish sanctuary and wild sea weed farming consider here in this island.
We have visited also the oldest house in this Island, the ancestral house of the Ibasco's and their local church with shape like boat. It makes me feel how good to experience living in province.
CANIMOG ISLAND- It is the biggest among the islands of Mercedes and so-called as the "Crocodille Island".
This place is perfect for trekking, hiking and snorkelling. With its clear water you can enjoy snorkelling and have a wonderful experience seeing different sea creatures.
Want some challenge? You may reached the top of Canimog Lighthouse after you finished almost 100 steps from its stairs. After the short trekking, you may enjoy the breathtaking view at the top. The Canimog Lighthouse built in June 26, 1927 and consider as the Oldest lighthouse in Bicol Region.
APUAO PEQUEÑA ISLAND- A hidden sanctuary , perfect for camping, trekking and bat viewing. It serves as a home of flying foxes, bats and wild boards. It offers a very impressive view of Pacific Ocean.
And as you notice it is connected to Apuao Grande by a well-formed long Sand Bars.
Tourist will enjoy the external or outer part of Apuao Pequeña from greenery surroundings because of the place was full of large pine trees.
Im sure it will give you a Baguio feels in Camarines Norte. And most important, Apuao Pequeña is the home for the celebration of Hammock Festival.
APUAO GRANDE- Truly it will catch your heart with its crystal clear blue water and a relaxing camp area beneath the pine trees.
This Island is perfect for relaxation, meditation and soul-searching. We have experience to stay for a night in a old resort here in Apuao Grande. And in the morning i got the chance to witness the magnificent beauty of its sand bar.
My Island Hopping experience with Katooga Team here in Mercedes Camarines Norte is rewarding.
Truly the 5 Island is abundance with beauty, virgin beaches and i get a chance to meet their kind and hospitable people from our tour. It gives me now an interesting perspective and strong appreciation with nature and Bicolanos.
I can say that each of the Islands here Mercedes is unique in terms of beauty and size. But the best way to differentiate each is to explore their differences in terms of local history, culture, food and the people.
Promise, You'll love your tour/stay here!
Thank you again for inviting us!
Im eager to see Mercedes Camarines Norte again.
